Drübeck
Refuge with a Feel-good Atmosphere
The town’s name Drübeck could well be translated as Dri Beke, Three Brooks, for the traditional wording of the legend about the founding of the abbey states: “... where three brooks meet, the place I will bless, there I shall build a house for devout silent women.” The two spires of the abbey church St Vitus at the Evangelisches Zentrum Kloster Drübeck can be seen from afar. The abbey courtyard with an almost 300-year-old lime tree, the charming rose garden, the flowering kitchen garden, and the meditative abbess's gardens are places of meetings, reflection and enjoyment of the gardens. The complex at the heart of town is surrounded by an abbey wall and meadow orchards and is an ideal starting point for pilgrimages along the Klosterwanderweg to Ilsenburg or Germany’s oldest railway station in Vienenburg.
Tip:
Escape from the dullness of everyday life by way of concerts, exhibitions, abbey tours and readings or simply leave your cares behind at the abbey café with its feel-good atmosphere.
