Bad Suderode
Europe’s Strongest Calcium Spring
The most calcium-rich hot spring in Europe wells up in Bad Suderode, a town richly endowed by nature. The elegant spa (status under review) near Quedlinburg in the northern part of the Harz mountains takes you back to the 19th century when the town entered its heyday. The individual Bad Suderode boarding house style characterises the entire town with its elaborately decorated Gründerzeit houses and filigree façades. The Behringer Brunnentempel offers an incredibly special water. The strength of this spring in Bad Suderode with 2,500 mg calcium per litre makes it a basic therapy in the treatment of osteoporosis. Visit the spa gardens and tread water in the Kneipp pool before exploring the Zaubergarten der Gesteine (Enchanted Garden of Rocks).
Tip:
From here it is not far to the wild and romantic Roseburg fairy castle near Rieder, an object by the Saxony-Anhalt Garden Dreams project.
