Dankerode
All Paths Lead to Nature
The tranquil timber frame town of Dankerode in the Lower Harz promises completely unspoilt nature. Surrounded by green forests, the clear water of the Wipper river and the pure air of the Harz, this resort town is an absolute paradise for ramblers. Walk to the Martelsberg with its over 100-year-old trees and visit the fallow deer enclosure in Neudorf. You want to experience the complete primitiveness of nature? Then cast of your clothes and walk along the Harzer Naturistenstieg. Over 18 km (11 m), this nudist trail follows the Wipper straight to the Wipper Dam. There is no obligation to undress on these paths! Signs saying “Willst Du keinen Nackten sehen, darfst Du hier nicht weitergehen” (Don’t proceed here on your way if you don’t wish to see naked ramblers today) show you the way. The late Romanesque church Unser Lieben Frauen is the oldest and most interesting building in the town and will impress you with its plain elegance.
Tip:
Relax on the back of a Dankeröde horse during a ride through picturesque landscapes.
