Kamern
Legendary: The Giantess and Her Mountain
Time seems to stand still in the former manorial village of Kamern in the Elbe-Havel region in the immediate vicinity of Brandenburg – a rarity these days. Surrounded by lakes left behind by the river Elbe when it changed its course as well as alluvial forests, you can enjoy your relaxing holiday either on a camping site or in one of the holiday cottages. At the entrance to the village you are greeted by the protected ‘Hedemicke’, a centuries-old pine trunk that is connected to the legend of Frau Harke, a giantess. In autumn, mushrooms populate the forest ground along the Path of Legends on the ‘Frau Harke Mountain’: a paradise for connoisseurs of the capped delicacies. The strong giantess Frau Harke is said to have lived in the mountain high up on the Teufelskanzel (Devil’s Pulpit). Once arrived on the peaks of the Kamern Mountains, you will be able to see as far as the cathedral of the Hanse Town Havelberg and the Havelland in all its glorious beauty. Kamern Lake offers densely vegetated shores and romantic sunny spots.
Tip:
Explore the lake with a kayak and discover the treasures of the plant kingdom.
