Bad Salzelmen
What Dr Tolberg Discovered and Still Works Today
The old salt town of Schönebeck is located near the federal state capital Magdeburg. In Bad Salzelmen, now an urban district, the saltworks physician Dr Tolberg identified over 200 years ago the healing properties of brine and used the local therapy for the improvement of health in spa treatments and inhalations. To this day, you can feel the positive effects of the humid and salty microclimate during a walk along the historical graduation tower. The respiratory pathways are cleansed, oxygen transport is improved, and the immune system strengthened.
At the southern end of the graduation tower you will find the Kunsthof museum complex, where you can embark on an exciting journey of discovery into the history of salt, saltworks and spa. A round tour will see you climb the graduation tower and Soleturm pumping tower, descent down to the hidden Viktoriaquelle saltwater spring, and marvel at Germany’s smallest producing pan saltworks.
The classicist Lindenbad building is set in the middle of the spa gardens and houses a physiotherapy department. It offers various water gymnastics courses in the natural brine therapy pool in addition to traditional treatments such as massages, gymnastics, hydro- and electrotherapy. The Lindenbad Bad Salzelmen specialises in the treatment of tinnitus with a specialised compact cure package.
Immerse yourself in the pleasantly warm natural brine at the health and wellness spa ‘Solequell’ at the edge of the spa gardens. Skin and muscles are pampered by waterspouts and massage jets in several different pools. The brine’s vitalising properties provides fresh energy and increases wellbeing. The sauna paradise and the wellness and beauty treatment section ideally supplement the bathing experience.
Tip:
A walk to the close-by hill of Bierer Berg is well worth the while as the view from its Bismarck Tower is outstanding.
